[CivicAccess-discuss] Canada is falling behind the rest of the world on open data and open government

Only comment on this article is that it does not touch on Canadian
municipal initiatives. The quote: "Canada has an open data policy, and

host open data for public consumption."  This to me seems to imply that
the municipal sector follows along and seems an afterthought. In Canada,
 the reality is it that it was grass roots from the municipal sector
discussions and collaboration that started it all.  
 
Then again the longer term successes of local municipal open gov
approaches are very much affected and to some degree dependent by the
success of Federal and Provincial OG and OD initiatives and any
acknowledgement of intent and action is a good thing.
