Hey gang!
Just updated the page. I always appreciate it if people fish through from
time to let me know if I am missing anything.
We are now up to 50 cities, districts, regions, counties with open data
portals!
http://datalibre.ca/links-resources/
Internationally we are part of the
- OGP
- and organizations, like the Sunlight Foundation are doing studies
about the work being done with the help of organizations like Open North,
- the OKF City Census is underway as was the OKF national open data index
- We are accounted for in the Open Data Barometer too.
The nature of our jurisdictional divides and federalism however continues
to confuse international organizations, on OGP provinces and territories
and cities etc. are not part of the discourse, only the federal government
is, while at the Sunlight Foundation, there is confusion between including
upper and lower tiers in their analyses. You will note that in the list on
datalibre.ca I have kept the official names of jurisdictions (I am a
geographer afterall!). But we have much to do to ensure that our myriad
levels of government have a voice in international fora, as there is much
action at that level, also, when it comes to indices our different
jurisdictions have different responsibilities over different types of data,
so we will have to figure out a way to ensure representation and proper
accounting.
What else are we contributing to Internationally that I might be missing?
any new data journalism stuff?
Cheers
t
